Cotton Bowl

We had a boring New Years Eve @ home this year because we left very early New Years Day to head to Dallas for the Cotton Bowl. We did not make it last year because Emerson was so young but went in 2004 and had a blast!! This year was different with a baby but definitely different in a good way. Like I said, we left early New Years Day & were half way to Dallas before Emerson woke up. When we got to Dallas we checked into the hotel & headed straight for the mall. I LOVE the malls in Dallas!!! I could really do some damage. HA! Of course, we had to check out the American Girl store. Emerson was in heaven! She loves babies and loved all of the big girls running around the store. That store is AMAZING!!! You can buy ANYTHING for those dolls, they even had a shoe section. When we finally got out of the store we went to dinner & turned in early so we would be ready for "the big game". Saturday we got up, ate breakfast & went to the stadium for the game. Can I just say, WOW? The stadium is HUGE & very nice. Our seats were high up but I don't think there is a bad seat in that stadium. It was really hard not to watch the "big screen" the whole time. The game was not pretty but Ole Miss pulled it off & won. HOTTY TODDY! We decided to sleep in the next day & then headed home. Emerson was such a trooper & hung out most of the ride home (thanks to cartoons on the laptop). I did end up in the back seat most of the way home but she was still wonderful, considering.

Sorry, I know there are TONS of pictures but I can never decide which are my faves. Enjoy.

Emerson had enough of sitting towards the end of the game so we went to play. I think the pictures turned out pretty good considering I took them with my phone camera.

Telling the "ducks" in the hotel goodbye. The manager let her feed the swans & even gave her a stuffed swan when Emerson did not want to leave her new friends.

a little late, even later

Just a quick pic until I can get the others into a slide show. I will try to get caught up tomorrow.
Also, I hope every one's new year is getting off to a great start.

Zoo Lights

Tonight we took Emerson to the Memphis Zoo for Zoo Lights.
She slept on the way to the zoo so we thought she would be wide awake and ready to go but we were wrong. She just hung out and rode in her stroller. She did call a sheep, a chinchilla and the wolves "dogs" but the rest of the time she just observed. I really don't know if she enjoyed herself but Quentin & I did. It was neat to see the zoo at night.
Peggy (my stepmother) gave us a zoo membership for Christmas and I am can not wait to take advantage of it when the weather gets a little warmer. Thanks Gigi!

Cookie Swap

Emerson & I hosted a cookie swap Friday night while Quentin was in Louisville, KY for work. I didn't take many pictures but wanted to share the ones I did take. We had a blast, ate to many cookies (& still are) and enjoyed hanging out with the girls. This will definitely be an annual event.

I had to many things on my "to do list" for the day of the party and had just gotten out of the shower when I heard Roxy barking because someone was at the door. Thank goodness Ashley & Angel decided to come over early to help because I don't know what I would have done without them. They washed & cut the veggies then Ashley made the brie. We were a little worried because neither one of us had made this dish before but the recipe looked to good to pass up. I have to say that it turned out perfect! I could not have done a better job myself. Even the bow looked good. Thank you both for your help.

Southern Lights

We took Emerson to see Southern Lights in Southaven last week & she had a blast. We let her sit in my lap in the park so she could see the lights and that was probably her favorite part. She really seemed to enjoy herself and the lights.

Attempting Christmas card pictures

I think we took about 100 pictures of Emerson & the Christmas tree just to get 3 that we liked enough to put on our Christmas card. The first couple pictures are attempts & the last 3 are the ones we chose for the card.

16 months

Has it really already been 4 months since her birthday?!?!?!
We are so blessed to have her in our lives. I also know that I am even more blessed to be able to stay home with this sweet girl everyday. Quentin stayed home from work today & could not believe how active she is during the day. She DOES NOT stop very often. She is on the bed, off the bed, then on & off again. Then she climbs into Quentin's desk chair and plays with the desktop computers mouse. After a couple minutes she is moving on to Roxy & her cage. Roxy is very sweet & patient but would rather Emerson leave her alone. She is also into all of the cabinets but only has one or two items she takes out of each cabinet, plays with & then moves on to another cabinet. Dumping things out of containers, picking them up & dumping them out again is also a favorite activity.
Are you tired after reading the above? I am too but Emerson is still going!!
Emerson is calling all fuzzy animals "dog" but said "cat" today. She also said "good" while playing with Quentin before her bath. Well, neither sounded like they really do but we knew what she was trying to say.
We have had so much fun shopping for her Christmas and are just about finished with her. Maybe. Unless we find something else we think she should have. :-)
I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday season's.
Please don't forget Jesus is the real reason for the season!!!

I am sorry I have really been slacking on the blogging thing. I will try to do better. We have just been busy getting ready for Christmas and chasing Emerson from room to room. The following pictures are some cute ones we have taken since my last post. Enjoy!
