Emerson's first birthday party

We had a small birthday party for Emerson on the 15th. I didn't get any good pics of all the grandparents but got a couple cute ones of Emerson. Thank you to all of the grandparents for the wonderful gifts. Emerson enjoyed seeing everyone and REALLY enjoyed her cake & ice cream.

Happy Birthday Emerson

Emerson turned one year old Tuesday. After starting the day @ the Memphis Zoo, we had lunch, went to get Muddy's cupcakes and then headed home to open presents and eat our cupcakes. Emerson has never had anything sweet before now & was not really sure what to do with the cupcake but quickly figured it out. Ella also came over with her Mom & Dad to have a cupcake with Emer. Actually, I think Ella showed Emerson what to do with the cupcake. (Emerson did crawl after watching Ella.) After a bath Emerson played with her gifts. She loves her chair & kitchen. However, it is true what they say about babies liking the boxes and wrapping paper more than the gift.

Emerson is having a small birthday party with the grandparent on Saturday and I know she will have a blast. We are very blessed to have her in our lives and I am to be able to stay home with her every day. Her being so happy makes me happier. She is such a joy to be around and always lights up the room. Happy First Birthday Emerson!

Why didn't we...

Why didn't we get Emerson a ball before now? We got this ball @ Toys-R-Us when we were picking up a birthday gift for Emerson last weekend. She LOVES it and has not stopped chasing it around the house.

Play date

Ella & Ashley came over Monday to play and the girls had a blast getting into everything. I had just read that babies don't really play together at this age (they play next to each other but independently) but Ella & Emerson played together the whole time. They followed each other from room to room and even shared some juice. We always have a good time when we get together with the Pollan's.

1 more week

Only 1 more week until Emerson's first birthday. She is getting so big. She can stand up without holding onto anything but is not walking yet. She REALLY loves her "DaDa" & can not get enough of Quentin these days.

No one can make this baby laugh like her Daddy can.

What's been going on this week?

Emerson will be 1 in a couple weeks and is really learning all kinds of new things. She is standing by herself and actually keeping her balance. She likes to play in the kitchen, especially with the blinds and dishwasher.

We are getting ready for Emerson's first birthday around our house. I am making Emerson's smash cake and wanted to see how big it would be and how it would cook so we made a practice cake. I am going to decorate it differently but I think it turned out cute.

Our walking buddies are on vacation and we have taken the week off. Before they left Tuesday they came by to bring us some yummy tomatoes. Emerson and Ella took the opportunity to play. I love this picture of Ella telling us how old she is going to be and Emerson just watching her. Emerson can now walk with her stroller all by herself.

I got out my old rocking chair that I used as a child and Emerson loved it. We have gotten it out one time before but she really didn't seem very interested. Today she crawled right up to it, rocked it, stood in it & rocked in it.

Daddy and Emerson spent some quality time together last Sunday. Mommy went to Memphis with the girls from the cove for our friend Liz's baby shower. Liz looked great and got a lot of cute little things. I can not wait to meet little Parker Frank.

She was so happy when I got home even though I don't think she noticed I was gone. She and Daddy had a blast. Daddy even took her to buy a new toy. He is such a sucker for her sweet face. ;-)
